Shout Outs
- Dr. Ahuja – Dean Appointment: Dr. Nita Ahuja, Chair of Surgery, has accepted the role of Dean of the School of Medicine and Public Health and Vice Chancellor for Medical Affairs at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, effective May 15.
- Dr. Golshan – Ellis Island Medal of Honor: Dr. Mehra Golshan has been awarded a 2025 Ellis Island Medal of Honor by the Ellis Island Honors Society.
Clinical Affairs
- Surge, Storm Update: A winter storm is expected Saturday evening, February 8, with 4–8 inches of snow along the shoreline. Given high ED/PACU boarders and ongoing surge efforts, teams should prioritize safe, timely discharges and report any barriers to leadership.
- Telehealth Training Requirement: Faculty who bill for telehealth services and have been assigned the training in Workday must complete it by Feb. 21.
- New Telehealth Platform: Join the Town Hall on Feb. 18 for a platform review and Q&A. Online training is also available.
- SRC Bridge Closure: The Orchard St. garage bridge to the Ambulatory building will be temporarily closed from Feb. 12 – March 7.
Education
- New APDs Announced:
- Dr. Andrew Dhanasopon has been named Associate Program Director (APD) for the General Surgery Residency, effective Feb. 10.
- Dr. Madonna Lee has been named APD for the Integrated Six-Year (I-6) Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency, effective March 1.
- Undergrad Shadowing Inquiries: Updated guidelines limit undergraduate shadowing opportunities to only those enrolled in the YNHH Volunteer Services program.
- Medical Education Day – Call for Abstracts: Submissions for Med Ed Day poster abstracts are now open. Deadline: March 12.
Research
- Research Day – Last Call for Abstracts: Submit by Feb. 10 for a chance to showcase research at Research Day. Four abstracts will be selected for oral presentations on the main stage.
- Yale Surgery at ASC: Review a list of abstract presentations to be made by faculty and residents representing the department at the 20th Annual Academic Surgical Congress, Feb. 11-13 in Las Vegas.
- Federal Funding Updates: A new university webpage provides regular updates on federal actions affecting Yale research, including agency guidance.
