The Department of Surgery announces that Alan Dardik, MD, PhD, Chief of Surgery at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System and Professor of Surgery and Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Yale School of Medicine (YSM), will be stepping down from his Yale positions to pursue an exciting new leadership opportunity. Effective March 2025, Dr. Dardik will join the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai as Vice Chair of Research for the Department of Surgery and Co-Director of the Jacobson Aortic Center.

Faculty have selected Elizabeth Berger, MD, MS, and Jennifer Ogilvie, MD, to represent the department as education and clinical representatives on the Yale School of Medicine Faculty Advisory Council (FAC). They join Isibor Arhuidese, MD, MPH, the department’s research representative, ensuring well-rounded faculty representation. The FAC provides an essential platform for communication with the Dean’s Office. Representatives serve two-year terms.

Vascular surgeons at Yale successfully performed the first GORE® EXCLUDER® Thoracoabdominal Branch Endoprosthesis (TAMBE) procedure in Connecticut on August 7. The patient did well and returned home several days later. The procedure marks a significant milestone in the treatment of complex aortic aneurysms, and showcases the innovative expertise of the Yale Department of Surgery's team of vascular and cardiac aortic specialists.

For Milford residents, a newly upgraded three-floor medical clinic at 849 Boston Post Road in the center of downtown, brings access to Yale’s gold-standard Otolaryngology and Vascular Surgery teams one step closer to home. Division Chiefs Benjamin L. Judson, MD, MBA and Raul Guzman, MD, were among the Department and Health System leaders who celebrated the official opening of the clinic at a ribbon cutting ceremony held Jan. 30.
