Biography
Originally from Upstate New York, Dr. Quick completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Siena College and his Doctorate in Medicine at New York Medical College, both in New York. Joining the US Navy while in medical school, he completed a Transitional Year Internship at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA and then completed US Navy Flight Surgeon training at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, FL. He performed the remainder of his active military service as a Flight Surgeon with the US Marine Corps based in North Carolina, during which time he deployed to the Persian Gulf aboard the USS Iwo Jima as part of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
Following completion of his active duty service, Dr. Quick transferred to the US Navy Reserve. He mobilized in 2018 for a 6 month deployment as the sole Anesthesiologist for the Expeditionary Medical Facility at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa. In 2019 he served 2 months aboard the hospital ship USNS Mercy during the Navy's response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. He is currently a drilling Captain for Navy Reserve ASU Quantico Detachment NLC based out of Groton, CT.
Completing his Anesthesiology Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School and then his Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship at Tufts Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine, both in Boston, he is now a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist at VA Connecticut Health Care System and serves as the Head of Process Improvement for the Department of Anesthesiology and the Chair of the Blood Usage Committee. He is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at Yale School of Medicine and is the current Treasurer for the Association of Veterans Affairs Anesthesiologists.
He is board certified in Anesthesiology, Adult Cardiac Anesthesiology, and Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography, and is a Fellow of both the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Echocardiography. Dr. Quick is also a certified instructor in both the American College of Surgeons' Advanced Trauma Life Support program and the Veterans Health Administration's Out of Operating Room Airway Management program.
