Associate Research Scientist in Epidemiology

Biography

Dr. Reza Aalizadeh graduated in analytical chemistry from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. He is member of Network of Reference Laboratories for the Monitoring of Emerging Pollutants (NORMAN) and have participated in many inter-laboratory studies for pollution monitoring. Currently, he is working as an associate research scientist in Vasiliou’s Lab at YSPH. His areas of expertise are analytical science, chemomterics and environmental chemistry. Dr. Aalizadeh’s research focuses on development of cutting-edge High-Resolution Mass Spectrometric (HRMS)-based methodologies to characterize and semi-quantify known and unknowns in the environment (qNTS). He has extensive experience studying the occurrence of priority pollutants, emerging contaminants and their transformation products in the environment. Here at Yale, his work has focused on exposomics to study the relationship between exposure to highly bio-accumulative persistent exogenous chemicals and their effect on the metabolomic and proteomic changes in animal models using “omics” technologies. This way, he connects the dots between cause and effect and draws a bigger picture of exposure risk of exogenous chemicals.
