Biography

Dr. R. Morgan Bain is currently Section Head for Palliative Care at Greenwich Hospital and former Professor of Medicine at Duke University. Dr. Bain completed undergraduate studies at Wesleyan University and received his Doctor of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed internal medicine residency and chief residency training at Norwalk Hospital, in affiliation with the Yale School of Medicine, followed by a geriatric medicine fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

Board certified in Internal Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and Geriatric Medicine, Dr. Bain has many years of experience caring for vulnerable adults with complex medical problems and needs. Career achievements include being the first full-time palliative care physician at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, medical director of multiple palliative care programs, inaugural Fellowship Director at Wake Forest and inaugural director for outpatient palliative care services at Duke University. His passions include patient care and medical education, having taught hundreds of medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians throughout his career.
