Biography
Tianyu Zhu holds a Ph.D. in Reproductive Medicine from the State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine, Nanjing Medical University, China, where his doctoral research focused on the molecular mechanism of sperm flagella formation. From 2021 to 2023, Tianyu continue worked at the State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine, Nanjing Medical University, as a Research Fellow.
From 2023 to 2024, Tianyu trained as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. With a strong interest in cilia function and expertise in gene editing, he explored the genetic function of cilia in zebrafish embryonic left-right determination by generating CRISPR-Cas9 knockout mutants.
With a strong interest in sperm flagella and reproductive biology, Tianyu joined Jean-Ju Chung's lab at Yale in October 2024. He focuses on exploring the molecular and structural adaptations of CatSper ion channel complexes in sperm motility and fertility in mammals.
